To avoid code violations and costly expenses, it is important for Florida property owners to ensure that their elevators are equipped with a Door Lock Monitoring (DLM) system by December 31, 2023. This critical safety requirement prevents elevators from operating when door contact circuits are faulty, and can be achieved by activating existing DLM systems in elevators manufactured after 2000 or by upgrading or modernizing older elevators.
